SOUTH YARMOUTH, Mass. – Coastal Medical Transportation Services, a leading medical transportation provider serving the Northeast U.S., is expanding its fleet with the addition of a new advanced life support paramedic fly car, which will help improve response time and resource utilization.
The company’s new fly car is scheduled to hit the roads in early January and will function as a non-transporting paramedic intercept vehicle. The vehicle is fully-stocked with all the lifesaving supplies found in an ambulance, and will remain available solely for advanced life support calls.
CMTS is the first non-emergency medical transport company to utilize a fly vehicle in the Cape Cod area.
“The new fly car will ensure the ability for CMTS to have readily available advanced life support resources for patients in need of acute care,” said Alex Theohardis, paramedic and CEO at CMTS. “The vehicle will cut resource times by allowing the paramedic to respond to the requesting facility to begin patient care and interventions prior to the transporting ambulances arrival.”
The vehicle will complement the CMTS’ existing fleet, which consists of 25 vehicles and over 100 employees who serve the Cape Cod community. CMTS has two operations centers that cover each end of the cape, as well as, a 24-hour communications center.
“Our company has grown immensely over the course of the last three years, servicing nearly every health care facility throughout the Cape and surrounding islands,” said Spero Theoharidis, Executive Vice President of Operations at CMTS. “The new fly vehicle will result in improved immediate availability of advanced life support resources and ensure the right resources are being utilized correctly ultimately delivering better patient care and experience to those in need.”
“CMTS is dedicated to providing the highest quality care possible to each of the patients we care for and transport, we are consistently taking steps to utilize the latest health care technology and equipment to improve clinical outcomes for patients and efficiency during transport.” Said Michael Pieretti, Paramedic and Chief Operating Officer at CMTS
In addition to the new fly vehicle, CMTS recently incorporated Acuity Link’s cloud-based scheduling and discharge workflow tool to into the company’s operations. The software tool allows health care providers CMTS services to request a non-emergency transport much more quickly, share patient information with the transporters and provide real-time location tracking for all parties involved.
